Meet the herd

Meet the true stars of the show! Our horses come in all shapes and sizes, each with their own quirky charms and expert trail skills. Whether they’re splashing through the canals or grazing peacefully during a ‘Picnic with Ponies,’ our herd is what makes every visit unforgettable. Scroll down to meet your four-legged guides and find out who will be leading your next adventure.

Whiskey: The Founding Father

Whiskey: The Founding Father

The Ultimate Confidence Builder

Personality: Patient, Steely, and “Lovingly Stubborn”

Whiskey was our very first horse—originally here on loan, we quickly realized the farm wouldn’t be the same without him, so he became a permanent part of the family. Though he is technically a “Gray,” he is as white as a cloud and just as steady.

Affectionately known as “The White Donkey” for his occasional stubborn streak, he is actually our most trusted guide for nervous riders and children. He has a heart of gold and a stomach to match; he’ll eat just about anything offered to him, but if you happen to have a date in your pocket, you’ll have a friend for life!

Meet my best friend: Danté

Midnight The "Madam Mare"

Midnight The "Madam Mare"

The Lead Mare & Herd Matriarch

Personality: Regal, Steady, and Secretly a “Pudding”

Every herd needs a leader, and Midnight wears the crown with pride. As our Lead Mare, she’s one of the largest horses in the stable and carries herself with a certain “stuck up” elegance—a trait she needs to keep the rest of the herd in line! While she might act like royalty at first, don’t let her cool exterior fool you. Once she gets to know you, she turns into absolute “pudding” and is one of the smoothest, most comfortable rides on the farm.

Just don’t try to win her over with figs (she’s not a fan!). If you want to get on her good side, a cube of sugar is the fastest way to her heart.

Meet my second-in-command: Whiskey

Gypsey: Our Resilient Soul

Gypsey: Our Resilient Soul

The Gentle Teacher

Personality: Grateful, Calm, and Proudly Lazy

Gypsey is a stunning Paint pony with a flowing blonde mane, but her true beauty lies in her spirit. A rescue who came to us after a very difficult past, she arrived barely able to walk. Today, she is a sturdy, healthy girl who has never forgotten the kindness she found here. She is perhaps the most grateful creature you’ll ever meet—extremely loving, gentle, and perfectly happy to take things at a very slow, “lazy” pace.

She’s a favorite for those who want a calm, peaceful walk. While she’s a softie, she has Midnight as her mentor to make sure she never gets bullied in the paddock. If you want to see her eyes light up, just bring along a peach!

Meet my best friend: Shadow

Shadow: The Gentle Speedster

Shadow: The Gentle Speedster

The Western Mounted Games Pro

Personality: Sleek, Attentive, and Spirited

True to his name, Shadow is a stunning black dun with a coat as sleek as the evening sky. He is the ultimate gentleman—extremely well-mannered and incredibly responsive to every command. While he is super sweet and gentle on the ground, Shadow has a “need for speed” and absolutely loves to run. He is our star at mounted games and gymkhana, always eager for the next outride.

Interestingly, Shadow is a bit of a picky eater; he’ll turn his nose up at an apple, but he’ll do anything for a handful of lucerne and molasses pellets. His favorite rider? A local 6-year-old who visits in a pink tutu and rides barefoot—proving that this fast-paced athlete has a heart of gold.

Meet my best friends: Gypsey & Tiffany

Danté: The Gentle Giant

Danté: The Gentle Giant

The Retired Athlete

Personality: Affectionate, Mischievous, and Velvet-Soft

Danté (short for Commandant) is the newest member of our herd, and he has traded the fast-paced life of a polo horse for the peaceful trails of our vineyards. As a Thoroughbred and our largest horse, he is a magnificent presence, but he’s really just a big softie. His coat feels exactly like velvet—there is nothing quite like the feeling of a neck-hug from this big guy.

Every morning, Danté is let out to roam the property, where he usually finds his way into some mischief with his best friend, Whiskey. He’s also our resident fruit-thief; he absolutely loves guavas and has even figured out how to pick them straight from the trees themselves!

Meet my partner-in-crime: Whiskey

Siren: The Salon-Ready Star

Siren: The Salon-Ready Star

The Arena Pro & Forward Flyer

Personality: Vibrant, Sweet, and Responsive

If horses had hair stylists, Siren would be their best client! A stunning fleabitten gray, she sports a unique mane that fades from a bright white forelock to a deep charcoal gray. But she isn’t just a pretty face; Siren is incredibly sweet and a total “peacekeeper” who avoids herd drama at all costs.

In the arena, she is vibrant and forward-going, especially when there’s a barrel in sight—she simply can’t resist a good turn! On the trails, she loves to cover ground and will go as fast as you’re comfortable with, but she is the ultimate professional: one light cue from the rider and she settles back into a calm pace immediately.

Meet my best friend: Lexi

Lexi: Our Celestial Speedster

Lexi: Our Celestial Speedster

The Spirited Survivor

Personality: Fast, Loyal, and Dainty

Short for Galaxy, Lexi earned her name from her striking blanket appaloosa coat—the spots across her back and flanks look just like a swirling whirlpool galaxy. Lexi’s journey is one of incredible transformation; she came to us after a life of extreme hardship, arriving so weak and fearful that she couldn’t even be approached.

After two years of patience and healing, Lexi has found her spark again. She has rediscovered her joy and absolutely loves to run. Because of her history, she is reserved for our most experienced riders who are willing to take the time to form a true bond with her—she isn’t just a horse you ride; she’s a partner you earn. She’s a “sweetie pie” at heart who despises carrots but will do anything for fresh sugar cane, provided it is cut into perfectly dainty, bite-sized pieces.

Meet my best friend: Siren

Luna: The Moonlit Schoolmaster

Luna: The Moonlit Schoolmaster

The All-Rounder & Game Star

Personality: Independent, Focused, and Highly Competent

Luna is a striking dark bay, named for the unique white “moonlight” streaks that dance across her back. She is a true schoolmaster—tall, lively, and incredibly talented at mounted games and jumping. Luna is a horse with a very strong sense of self; she’s a bit of a “lone wolf” who prefers the company of her rider over the chatter of the herd.

While she doesn’t suffer fools and likes things done just right, her focus in the arena is unmatched. She isn’t one for cuddles or social drama, preferring to keep her distance from other horses—unless, of course, it’s mealtime! While she pretends to be tough, she loses all her composure for her daily bran mix bowl.

Meet my best friend: Fearless

Fun Fact: Luna is a bit of a loner, but if you’re the horse in the stall next to her, watch your back—she’s been known to try and take a playful ‘snack’ out of her neighbor!

Khaleesi: The Golden Guardian

Khaleesi: The Golden Guardian

The Powerful Protector & Weight-Carrier

Personality: Energetic, Trusting, and Nurturing

Khaleesi is a soulful, stocky mare who found her sanctuary with us just when she needed it most. A sturdy powerhouse with a coat that gleams like polished gold in the sunlight, her transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. She arrived shockingly thin, yet she was carrying a secret legacy—her foal!

Today, Khaleesi has reclaimed her strength. While she is a deeply protective mother, her trust in us is so absolute that she has welcomed us into her foal’s “inner circle” from day one. Under the saddle, she is a powerful, energetic ride that requires a firm, experienced hand. She is the perfect blend of a fierce protector and a loyal partner who clearly appreciates her “forever home.”

Meet my little prince: Kordaat

Tiffany: The Porcelain Princess

Tiffany: The Porcelain Princess

The Perfect Teacher & Jumping Star

Personality: Elegant, Hardworking, and a Total Diva

Tiffany is a pristine white Arab x Welsh pony with delicate features and a flowing mane that looks like it belongs in a fairytale. She is every little girl’s dream horse come to life! A fantastic jumper with a tireless work ethic, she actually gets bored if she isn’t kept busy. While she’s not a fan of the summer heat, she thrives in the winter and is our “go-to” for teaching children the art of jumping.

More than any snack, Tiffany craves love and cuddles. She is in her absolute element when being pampered; you can spend hours braiding her mane or tail, and she will soak up every second of the attention. For Tiffany, a long grooming session and a bath are better than any treat in the world!

Meet my best friend: Shadow

Fearless: The Brave Heart

Fearless: The Brave Heart

The Playful Prodigy

Personality: Curious, Bold, and a Little Bit Mischievous

Born right here on our property, Fearless has lived up to his name since day one. While most horses have a “flight” instinct, Fearless has a “check it out” instinct! Whether it’s a suspicious rustle in the bushes or a new toy, he’s the first to investigate. He is our only horse who loves to play with a ball, and he was so naturally tame that he accepted his rider—our daughter—without a second thought.

He is a handsome chestnut with a bright white stripe on his nose and a very expensive appetite. Pro tip: Do not leave your tack unattended! Fearless has been known to try and turn a leather saddle into a snack. He loves just about any treat you offer, but he’ll take a nibble of your gear if you aren’t looking!

Luna has looked after Fearless since the day he was born—she’s the self-appointed godmother of the herd!

Meet my partner-in-mischief: Magneto

Magneto: The Twice-Rescued Hero

Magneto: The Twice-Rescued Hero

The Smooth Operator - Currently enjoying some R&R

Personality: Sweet, Resilient, and a Total “Sucker” for Scratches

Magneto is a horse that was simply destined to be part of our family. Originally named King Arthur, we quickly realized his unique, mottled blue-roan coat and steely spirit were much more suited to the name Magneto. After being sold and unfortunately injured, he found his way back to us for a second time, and we are now dedicated to his recovery with plenty of physio and specialised care.

He is a total “sweetie pie” who can be put into a literal trance if you find the right spot for a neck scratch! When he is sound and moving, he offers one of the smoothest rides you will ever experience. He’s currently spending his days healing and getting into trouble with his best friend, Fearless. If you want to win him over, skip the apples and bring a handful of grapes!

Meet my best friend: Fearless

Khal Drogo: The Stoic Heir

Khal Drogo: The Stoic Heir

The Gentle King

Personality: Stoic, Unshakeable, and Deeply Loyal

Drogo’s story is one of a legendary bond. Born on our farm to our lead mare, Midnight, he was weaned early during a difficult season of African Horse Sickness (AHS) to ensure his safety. Though he spent over two years with a local family, the special connection we shared never faded. When he finally returned to us, the reunion with his mother, Midnight, was nothing short of epic.

A dark bay Boerperd stallion, Drogo carries a regal, stoic demeanor. He is the definition of “bomb-proof”—calm, focused, and nearly impossible to spook. He was so trusting that he accepted his first rider (our daughter) without a single fuss. He is a true gentleman of the herd who knows his strength but chooses to be gentle. If you want to get on his good side, skip the sugar—Drogo is a corn lover through and through!

Sired by the noble Prince and born to the legendary Midnight, Drogo carries the finest bloodlines of our farm’s history.

Meet my Queen: Khaleesi

Song: The Living Legacy

Song: The Living Legacy

The Affectionate Soul

Personality: Intelligent, Affectionate, and Determined

Full name Siren’s Song, this young colt is a very special miracle. His father, Sire, was a stallion we were told could never have foals—but we believed otherwise, and Song is the beautiful proof! Turning two this August, Song was born a bay, but like his mother Siren, his coat is steadily turning a snowy, pristine white.

Song is as smart as they come and a fast learner, though he definitely inherited a streak of his father’s legendary stubbornness. He is most famous for his “soentjies”—if you lean in and make a kissing sound, he’ll stretch out his neck to give you a proper kiss on the mouth! When he’s not being a charmer, he’s hunting for Prosopis pods with his best friend.

Meet my Best Friend: Lightning | Family: Siren (Mom)

Lightning: The Shy Striker

Lightning: The Shy Striker

The High-Speed Introvert

Personality: Gentle, Camera-Shy, and Energetic

Lightning is a stunning Nooitgedacht colt with a unique coat of blended white, light grey, and cream. His name wasn’t just a guess—when he was younger, he carried a distinct marking on his flank in the perfect shape of a lightning bolt! While he is a bit on the shy side compared to the bolder members of the herd, he has a hidden “wild” side.

If he spends too much time in a small camp, he gets a serious case of the “zoomies” and flies across the field like his namesake. Just don’t try to catch it on camera! As soon as he spots a phone or a lens, he’ll stop dead in his tracks—he prefers to keep his talent private. He is best friends with Song and can be easily bribed with a handful of lucerne pellets.

Meet my Best Friend: Song

Kordaat: The Little Lord

Kordaat: The Little Lord

The Prince of the Paddock

Personality: Parmantig, Playful, and Fast

Born five months after Khaleesi found sanctuary with us, Kordaat is the undisputed heart-throb of the farm. He is the definition of parmantig—cheeky, proud, and delightfully self-important. You can often see him “strutting” his stuff around the arena with an air of absolute authority, only to collapse in a heap next to his mother for a nap in the sun two minutes later.

He is incredibly fast and famously lively, spending his afternoons playing “tag” with Kaylee, one of our rescue dogs. Watching the two of them bounce, hop, and roll together is a highlight for anyone visiting the farm! While he is a fan of a little molasses, his favorite snack is still—of course—mommy’s milk. Horses and humans alike can’t help but fall in love with this bold little soul.

The Family Tree: Khaleesi (Mom) & Khal Drogo (Dad)

Tjokker: The Tiny Titan

Tjokker: The Tiny Titan

Role:

Personality: Fearless, Gallant, and a Total Rascal

Don’t let his size fool you—Tjokker may be a mini horse, but he has the heart (and the ego) of a giant! A pitch-black stallion with a magnificent tail that sweeps the ground, Tjokker was rescued after being found wandering the streets of a nearby town. Since joining us, he has made it very clear that he doesn’t realize he’s small; he never stands back for the big horses and considers himself quite the “ladies’ man” among the mares.

He is a comical, charming little fellow who is currently looking for his forever home where someone small enough can enjoy his training. While he’s sad to see his best friend Snowy head off to her new home soon, he’s always cheered up by his favorite treats: sugar cubes and lucerne pellets.

MyBest Friend:  Snowy found a new home
